Opuntia gosseliniana or Purple Prickly Pear is native to Arizona, Baja California and Sonora in Mexico.

This prickly pear has a violet-pink to red tinge on the pads.  It reaches heights from 1 to 5 feet; the flowers are yellow with a bright red base. Bloom period is from April to May.
